About Kat Postel

I’m so glad you’re here. I’m a therapist—an LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker)—and I specialize in grief and loss, children and teens, parenting, major life changes, and trauma. I dive deep into the intersections of loss, resiliency, and life. I’m emphatic about bodywork in healing, mindfulness, and trusting your intuition. I’ve lived in Texas most of my life, and in Austin for the last six years. As a former elementary special education teacher and a mama, I have lots of experience walking alongside all types of brilliant and beautiful kiddos. As a fellow parent with training in child development, we work collaboratively to problem solve in parent coaching. I also have extensive experience with teens and adults, including life changes, relationship troubles, trauma, and terminal illness. Together, we can journey through all the types of loss and healing that life can bring. Grief, loss, and other big life changes feel so hard—all-consuming and overwhelming. I'm here to offer kids and adults a safe space for navigating big emotions and new circumstances, so that you can heal and grow. I help with feeling hard things, staying grounded in the body, and building on the resilience that is already in you. I use play, creativity, mindfulness, movement, storytelling, and talk therapy to feel into the hard parts of grief, loss, trauma, and relationships. I'm here to walk with you, to be an empowering companion, and to bear witness to your healing.
