Kat Thoreson, M.S. – Instructional Designer & Media Arts Educator Kat Thoreson has over fifteen years of experience developing multimedia eLearning and delivering instruction across K–12, higher education, utilities, and healthcare systems. Her diverse background in curriculum design, vector illustration, web development, and multimedia production reflects a unique blend of creative and technical expertise. Kat holds a Master of Science in Educational Media and Instructional Design, grounding her practice in evidence-based pedagogy and learning science. As an experienced instructional designer, she has: • Designed and developed robust multimedia learning objects for adult learners, integrating advanced vector and motion graphics using Adobe Illustrator and After Effects. • Utilized high-end software platforms including Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Cloud applications including Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro and Rush, and a variety of Web 2.0 tools. • Created interactive e-textbooks optimized for iPad, Kindle, and other mobile devices. • Collaborated closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and faculty to ensure pedagogical alignment and learner engagement. • Developed comprehensive instructional scaffolding and performance-tracking roadmaps aligned with accrediting and regulatory standards. • Facilitated both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences, ensuring accessibility and engagement across modalities. • Designed and managed courses within multiple Learning Management Systems (LMS), including Canvas, Moodle, Sakai, Blackboard, and Oracle Cornerstone.
