About Katarzyna Batani

I am a physicist with 20+ years of experience. An experimental physicist by degree, I combine with ease physics knowledge with data analysis skills. I am used to work in international environment (big tokamak and laser installations), I am easily adapting to a new conditions and I am not afraid of challenges. I used to coordinate or take active part in organization of various events related to popularization of physics on different levels and projects (IdEx, Eurofusion.). Recently, I became the Chair of COST Action CA21128 - PROton BOron Nuclear fusion: from energy production to medical applicatiOns (PROBONO). The PROBONO aims at understanding the physics involved in the emerging topic of laser-driven pB fusion, maximizing production of new knowledge, boosting career of young researchers, and finally interconnecting researchers across countries building a well-organized community focused on pB research. The Action will continue until 2026 and is open to international collaboration. In 2021 I became Editor-in-Chief of Laser and Particle Beams. The journal is going through a transition phase including changes in the Editorial Board and changes in the editorial politics (LPB has become an OPEN ACCESS JOURNAL). Our goal is to serve the community offering a very fast and constructive review process. You are cordially invited to submit manuscripts related to all the aspects of physics of plasmas produced by laser or particle beams. This includes a variety of topics such as: high energy density physics, hot dense matter and related atomic physics, inertial fusion, laboratory astrophysics, intense sources of coherent radiation, laser-driven acceleration and high-brightness sources of particles, etc. Specialist: proton boron fusion diagnostics, laser, EOS, WDM, GEM, MSE My former work was dedicated to the deployment, calibration and testing of the PETAL+ diagnostics. Previously I was involved in development of the GEM detectors for JET and spectroscopic analysis of the X-ray and visible radiation produced within tokamak, Plasma-Focus. I strongly believe that interaction between science and society have positive influence on better understanding and popularization of physics. As a consequence I was involved in organization, gave lectures or I was a member of Scientific Committee during: • conferences (ECPD, ICPP, PLASMA, ISUILScience, Asia-Pacific CPP, OPTIQUE/PAMO and many more) • Kudowa Summer School (IPPLM), • Journée de la Mixité (University of Bordeaux) • Festival of Science (IPPLM, Warsaw).
