About Kate Ashling

I'm an Environmental Science graduate with a drive to enact environmental and social change. I currently volunteer as regular editor at The Kingfisher (the-kingfisher.org), an online newspaper with a focus on the relationships between environmental and social issues. My Skills, Knowledge and Experience: At university, I developed skills and experience related to fieldwork, laboratory work, IT, and scientific writing. I also gained knowledge in environmental, ecological and societal issues through modules such as Resource Security and Sustainability, Environment and Society, Atmosphere and Climate, and Ecology and Ecosystem Protection. I have experience working with ArcGIS (through a module at university and an ESRI Cartography course), and of statistical analysis in RStudio. My previous part-time positions have developed soft skills such as communication, team working, time management, adaptability, emotional intelligence, and problem solving. My Aim: I look forward to contributing my skills, experience, desire to learn, and can-do attitude to a workplace aligned with my values. In doing so, I hope to make a positive difference to the environment and society.
