About Kate Doak

Kate is an investigative journalist and Social Media Strategy Manager at Network 10 (Paramount ANZ) in Sydney, Australia. Some of her key investigations include the 2017-2018 Australian Constitutional Crisis, including the Section 44 stories on the eligibility of The Hon. Peter Dutton MP and Senator Barry O’Sullivan to sit in federal parliament due to their business interests. Other stories include the AFL Richmond Tigers Groping Scandal (as National Affairs Editor Hugh Riminton's investigative researcher/producer), multi-million dollar federal budgetary issues & an exclusive interview with the creators of the COVID-19 medication Molnupiravir, amongst others. Kate has also worked as a freelance journalist with organisations such as the Sydney Morning Herald, ABC Arts, Crikey News, Daily Life, ABC Radio Current Affairs, SBS World News Australia, ABC News (U.S.), Good Morning America, The Guardian and the Sydney Star Observer, amongst others. Kate also has experience as a researcher, documentary producer, photographer, motivational speaker and communications advisor, both in corporate, not-for-profit and university-based organisations. These include Uniting NSW.ACT, University of New South Wales and the University of New England (Australia). Kate has also contributed to multiple books and other multimedia projects. These include the books “He Who Must Be Obeid” by Kate McClymont and Linton Besser on political corruption in Australian Labor politics, as well as “Balancing Acts: Women In Sport” which is a compilation of short stories on women’s experiences in Australian sport by Brow Books. In addition to her work covering NSW and Australian Federal politics, since late 2012 Kate has also produced documentaries on LGBTI related issues for both FBi Radio 94.5 and The Gender Centre of Sydney, respectively. These include the radio production “Hope + Politics: The Parliamentary Friendship Group” which was highly commended by the Walkley Foundation at their 2013 Storyology Conference, as well as the short documentary film on Transgender youth “In My Shoes” which was launched at the 2014 Parliamentary Friends of LGBTI Australian's function at Parliament House in Canberra. Kate has also worked extensively in community and university radio. She was the Operations Manager / Project Manager of Australia's oldest community radio station TuneFM 106.9 (formerly Radio UNE and 2UNE) during its relocation, upgrade and refurbishment at the University of New England between 2008 and mid-2011.
