About Kate Frederick

I recently finished my Ph.D. in Anthropology at Michigan State University. My dissertation research looked at food storage as a risk management strategy utilized by the Late Woodland hunter-gatherers in northern lower Michigan. My research project, Michigan State University Subterranean Storage Research Experiment (MSU SStoRE), continues to use experimental archaeology to explore food storage technology. I also have a background in Museum Studies,(Minor from MSU) and have worked in collections and curation. I held the position of the archaeology intern for the Michigan State Museum. My goal is to work at an institution of higher-education as an archaeologist and educator and to continue to pursue my Great Lakes research.
