About Kate Heightman

I am a conscientious environmentalist, with a profound personal and professional connection with nature. I’m highly practical, creative and versatile, and I bring a thorough and precise approach to projects, as well as dedication to effective communication.I’m also passionate in the power of adventure to both connect us with the natural world and develop self-assurance and confidence. I completed a solo lap of the coast of Britain by motorcycle in 2021, raising over for charity and in 2022 toured to remote protected areas alone. These journeys made me realise how small and precious our remaining wild places are. In my role with the European Nature Trust (TENT), I work to connect more people with nature at the Alladale Wilderness Reserve in Scotland. In 2023 I reviewed and relaunched our education programme for local schools, and initiated discovery days for local people to raise awareness about how restoring nature can help address the climate and biodiversity crises. I also manage the Trust’s support for projects across Scotland and forge links with organisations and academic institutions to ensure a coordinated approach to nature restoration evidenced by scientific data.
