About Kate Hylan

As Director of Development at Open Hearth Inc, I am responsible for communicating the organization’s mission and values to a broad range of stakeholders, including staff, Board members, volunteers, donors, and community partners. I oversee all aspects of development to advance Open Hearth’s strategic vision, bringing strong leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills to the role. I represent Open Hearth in select high-level partnerships, public speaking engagements, and externally facing initiatives, while also playing a key role in the organization’s strategic planning process as it relates to fundraising. In collaboration with the CEO, I lead the development and execution of a comprehensive fundraising strategy, engaging with corporate, foundation, government, and individual donors. I support the Board President and members in major fundraising efforts and work closely with the CEO on the organization's broader financial strategy. I monitor donor data and trends to inform strategy, manage stewardship programs to deepen donor engagement, and cultivate relationships with key community leaders and stakeholders to expand funding opportunities. I also oversee the solicitation of in-kind donations, support volunteer development committees, and ensure the financial efficiency of the department. In partnership with the Development Manager, Social Media Coordinator, and the Board’s Mission and Advancement Committee, I help craft compelling donor communications, fundraising materials, and campaigns. On the administrative side, I manage the overall fundraising plan—including direct mail, special events, digital outreach, and face-to-face solicitations—while providing leadership support to Board development activities and planned giving.
