About Kate Ilecki

I began my career in the recycled materials industry in 2010 with Metalico Rochester as an outside sales metal buyer for the industrial and manufacturing industries. New to the industry and committed to succeeding, I used my degree in education to design Metalico's "Scrap Management Program". This innovative sales approach gained recognition with companies in the greater Rochester area, proving to maximize facility efficiencies in scrap metal through cooperative planning and tailored scrap management tools. I took great pride in understanding the specific needs of my accounts and providing optimal service with those needs in mind. In 2019, I was promoted to Assistant General Manager, where my focus and passion for my industry was redirected to operations management. Within three years as AGM, I was elevated to Vice President and General Manager of Metalico Rochester. In this role, my focus has been on maintaining a safe and positive work culture, while increasing efficiencies and profitability in today's challenging conditions. I enjoy the excitement each day provides and the role creativity can play in decision making. There's never a dull moment in scrap metal. It's one of those industries where you either love it or hate it. After 15 years, I'm still having fun!
