About Kate Lockley

Kate recently joined the team at Hydro One's Field Office in Simcoe. She is excited to be a part this dynamic team. Kate recently resigned from McMaster University in July 2020 and was a member of the Obstetrics & Gynecology Postgraduate Education Team since February 2018. Her attention to detail and drive to grow was reflected in the successful events she had coordinated and hosted. Kate was heavily involved in the Residency Wellness Committee and had been an advocate for mindfullness and wellness initiatives within the department. This led her to realize that she was unprepared in the event one of her learners may suffer from burnout or other mental illnesses. This led her to receive her certificate for Mental Health First Aid. Along with her passion for mental and emotional wellness, Kate is passionate about her learner's educational experiences and successes. She has stated that when a learner succeeds she feels as though she has succeeded herself. As an active member on the University's Inspiring From Within planning committee Kate utilized her creative and design thinking skills to promote new ideas for the two day conference held for McMaster employees. Kate also sat on the McMaster United Way Committee for the Hamilton and Halton region. Her empathetic approach has raised more awareness for those in the community that depend on the United Way. Kate has brought forward fundraising initiatives within her department and assists with University wide fundraising. Kate's experience in education has been limited however her clinical background has been an asset to her current career. After graduating Kate began her healthcare journey in a private cardiology clinic as a Cardiovascular Technician. Her compassion for her patients was evident over the twelve years at the clinic. She adapted to become an Administrative Assistant when the opportunity arose. Within that role Kate was able to provide care to the patients after the testing was compete therefore being able to follow through with their treatment plan and see the positive results firsthand. Kate strives to continually grow personally and as an employee. She is constantly searching for new ways to improve and learn and working towards multiple certificates through CCE.
