About Kate McBride

Kate has over 25 years experience in health care, including clinical care, education, research, and program and policy development. She is thrilled to be starting in a new position as CNS, with the Sexual Health Rehab Service at GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre. Kate’s clinical background is rehabilitation nursing and sexual health rehab. Here is where she recognized her passion for education and for patient-family centred care. Since then, Kate worked in a variety of senior education related roles and capacities. Highlights of her career include leading a collaborative initiative to improve perinatal care for women with SCI and acting as project manager for the development of provincial guidelines for sexuality and intimacy in care facilities in BC. Last year, Kate completed a Masters in Nursing degree at UBC Okanagan with a focus in education and leadership. In her recent role as Clinical Education Lead with the Provincial Perinatal Substance Use Program, Kate evolved her education and leadership skills; fostered partnerships, and was fortunate to expand her knowledge in areas of substance use; motivational interviewing; trauma and violence informed care, and Indigenous cultural safety.
