About Kate Miller

I started photographing weddings thirteen years ago, after being inspired by our own wedding photographer. I enrolled at Pittsburgh Filmmakers where my love for photography grew over the next two years. It seemed a natural fit to start with weddings because I knew what it was to be a bride and I had a knack for seeing and capturing weddings in a flattering way. Then I had my sons and quickly realized that it would be better for our family if I shifted to smaller portrait jobs where I wouldn’t be gone all day and into the night. Again, my life situation influenced my work and I focused my work on capturing babies and families. And now that my boys are older, I’ve been able to return to a full-time schedule and have spent a lot of time growing my business. I’m thankful to continue to photograph babies, families, seniors and weddings. Photographing people brings me a lot of joy. And now that I am a full-time business owner, I’m adding commercial photography to my offerings and loving it! Honestly, this wasn’t on my radar 13 years ago. And I feel like a bit of an outsider, but I think that will change with time. I felt the same way when I started photographing weddings. Over the past year, I’ve had a lot of great opportunities to help small businesses with (captivating) imagery to market their business. And I think my experience of capturing various portraits over the last 13 years translates well for small business photography. I’m looking forward to seeing where this goes!
