About Kate Picone

My highest aspiration is to bring about positive change in the world through business, art, entrepreneurship and community engagement. I am presently working as Project Manager for SEED Network at Pôle IDEOS - HEC Montréal. I am the Founder and Visual Artist of Kate PICONE Art. Additionally, I am currently on the Board of Directors of Imagine Lachine-Est. My extensive educational background facilitates interpersonal communication and allows for strong problem-solving skills through a greater ability to create connections. I've studied in the diverse fields of Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Health and Life Sciences, and Liberal Arts enabling me to develop a unique skillset of expertise. As an alumna of HEC Montréal, Université de Montréal and Champlain College, I've had the opportunity to create solid social networks across Canada and abroad. As a graduate student, I was awarded with the Jacques Foisy Entrepreneurship Scholarship in 2018, and, in 2020, I received the Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Master's Scholarship (CGS M) from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). I'm currently a Master’s candidate of the M.Sc. program in Social Innovation Management at HEC Montréal. My rich work experience permits for a marked understanding of the business realities in different sectors. My varying roles in Business Management, Healthcare, Research and Communications have allowed me to develop a wide range of transferable aptitudes valuable in today’s rapidly changing market. My various entrepreneurial endeavours are an asset as they reflect a first-hand understanding and real-world experience of starting and running businesses. As the Founder of Kate PICONE Art, I've had the opportunity to participate in several art expositions in Quebec and partner with different organizations to showcase my work. My commitment to social engagement is showcased through my desire to share my talents, time and passion in order to create meaningful impact in my community. I've done volunteer work locally and internationally with organizations such as Imagine Lachine-Est, the Centre for Sustainable Development, Hospital Elder Life Program (H.E.L.P.), Gold Centre, and Operation Groundswell. In 2019, I was the recipient of the Lieutenant Governor’s Youth Medal (Bronze) awarded by The Honourable J. Michel Doyon, Lieutenant Governor of Québec. This Medal recognizes the social commitment, academic merit and determination of Quebecers who exert a positive influence in their community.
