About Kate Ritchie

Quality improvement in health care is a big topic in British Columbia and I am here for it. As a child I often overheard my parents talking about the challenges they faced at work due to the disconnect between policy makers and frontline workers, the unique challenges of rural health care, and the lack of capacity they had as doctors to address systemic health care challenges on top of their medical careers and busy family life. I often wondered if there was a role for me in all of this. Now here we are. Currently, I work as a Program Analyst in the Health Services Integration Division of the Ministry of Health helping to oversee the planning and implementation of primary care initiatives in the BC Interior. I develop robust stakeholder relationships to foster transparent, meaningful engagement with community partners; I monitor progress on multi-million-dollar primary care initiatives; and I support project outcomes across the Interior region. From big picture thinking and strategic planning, to analyzing the smallest details to find a common theme or outlier, I do it all.
