About Kate Schwehr

Geologist with 12 years of industry experience, 5 years external to Chevron and 7 years internal. Internal experience includes work in Chevron's Mid-Continent (MCBU) and San Joaquin Valley (SJVBU) business units in asset development. In MCBU, the focus was on permitting, planning, execution, and well performance in unconventional reservoirs. In SJVBU, focus has centered on progressing economic wells from reservoir characterization through execution in conventional type reservoirs augmented by steamflood. Skills utilized and grown during time in these roles include earth modeling, subsurface mapping, reservoir characterization (including OIP estimates), subsurface hazards assessment, well permitting and planning, data science and visualization, and cross-functional teamwork. Additional demonstrated abilities in building internal and external relationships as mudlogging SME and mentor to new geologists. Experience external to Chevron includes work as a well site geologist, senior well site geologist, and senior geologist in unconventional reservoirs for a geological consulting company. Skills built during this time include mudlogging, gas detection, core description, geosteering, petrophysical log evaluation, communication, and management of field geologists. Other valuable skills include understanding the drilling process, and how geology affects drilling performance. My long term goal is to work my way up to a more senior geologic position, ideally an advisor role, where I can continue to do technical geoscience projects and also mentor/manage geologists in early career positions.
