Kate nurtures creatives to make entertaining films, tv series, radioplays and VR stories. By making challenging productions possible through innovation she is creating an internationally renowned profitable entertainment business- The MTV EUROPE MUSIC AWARDS (2007, 2008, 2009)- Jia Zhangke's feature film MOUNTAINS MAY DEPART (Cannes 2015 in Competition)- SURVIVING MUMBAI, 2010 Emmy nominated documentary turned into Feature Film Hotel Mumbai - GIRT BY SEA, the 2012 documentary,(Sheffield Doc Fest, Perth International Arts Festival) made completely of archive and crowdsourced footage with a score by The Panics - RONAN'S ESCAPE, a short film that has been shared over 27million times through facebook and youtube - EVIE, an Australian Dinosaur thriller that premiered at Sitges in 2021 and Flickerfest 2022 as well as winning 6 Best Short Film Awards - GOOD NIGHT, won the Audience award for best short film at Sedona International Film Festival 2022 and had its Australian premiere at Flickerfest 2022 and has been selected for the Flickerfest regional tour and - DIRT MUSIC based on Tim Winton's novel that had it's world premiere at Toronto Film Festival 2019 and Australian Festival Cinefest Oz in 2020. It will be released in Australian Cinemas on 8th October 2020. Based in Lake Coogee, Western Australia Kate founded Lake Martin Films in 2017 as a family business to create entertaining, meaningful and risk-taking screen content. Through this she nurtures projects from conception to delivery, to allow audiences to gain insight into other worlds and better understand their own. She has advocated for the screen sector previously through her work on the advisory board of Raising Films Australia, her role as chair of the ScreenWest Industry Advisory Group, advising the board on industry matters and with GameChangers and as chair of the Film and Television Institute of Western Australia. Kate is also a trained Contact Officer. Kate mentors several young film-makers, challenging them to use big sky thinking and creative problem solving to achieve amazing things and has already seen success in these mentees.
