Katherine Martens Stricklett’s diverse background includes experiences in health education, gerontology, wellness, property management, affordable housing compliance and Higher Education. After graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with high distinction with a Bachelor of Science degree in community health education, her interest in working with older adults prompted her to purse graduate study in gerontology. Mrs. Martens Stricklett was awarded fellowship and research assistantship scholarships while earning a Master of Science in Gerontology degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Her graduate study culminated in her Nebraska nursing home administrator's license and a graduate certificate in nonprofit organizational management and leadership. She held an active Long-Term Care Administrator's license from 2002-2020, then pivoted her license to inactive status. Mrs. Martens Stricklett has worked for a variety of organizations including, health departments, area agencies on aging, wellness programs, homeless outreach programs, and with older adults across the health care continuum from independent living settings to long term care facilities. From 2002-2007, Mrs. Martens Stricklett worked for a Nebraska faith-based senior living company, Immanuel, where she launched and managed its first affordable senior living community. After 5 years, she became a project manager overseeing the development of additional communities. She holds several certifications in affordable housing including; a Specialist in Housing Credit Management (SHCM) and a Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS). Passionate about the senior living continuum, she has served on the Executive committees of 2 affordable senior housing boards in the Omaha metro area for 16 and 13 years, respectively. In 2007, Mrs. Martens Stricklett was recruited to interview for an Education Coordinator role at Creighton University’s School of Pharmacy and Health Professions. During her 18-year tenure at Creighton University, she held leadership positions in various health professions offices, served on University committees and collaborated on scholarly projects. Currently, she is a Program Manager for the Center for Interprofessional Practice, Education and Research,(CIPER) where she oversees the implementation of interprofessional education curriculum to meet accreditation standards for students across 9 Health programs. She is passionate about fostering student learning experiences that emphasize collaboration among healthcare professionals to enhance patient care and outcomes.
