Background
About Kate Turner
After qualifying as a physiotherapist in I spent several years gaining a broad experience of physiotherapy in both the NHS and Private sector. I specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy in 2003 and continued to develop my clinical skills in this area with post graduate courses and self directed learning. From these courses I developed a particular interest in spinal problems, both acute and long term. I have been involved in devising and piloting group sessions for people with long standing back pain as well as leading them. As well as musculoskeletal conditions, I also enjoy treating the elderly helping them to regain and maintain their independence and seeing the difference physiotherapy can make. In 2013 I set up North Yorkshire Physiotherapy with Dallas Newton, an independent practice in Stokesley. We have progressed from a start up company to a busy clinic with 6 physiotherapists, a sports massage therapist, a full time Practice Manager, pilates classes and back exercise and education classes. In September 2015 we opened a satellite clinic in Durham. We are currently expanding to offer an Occupational Physiotherapy service as well as presentations on Wellbeing At Work, Living Well in Later Life and Sports Injuries. In January 2016 we were delighted to discover we were named in a short list of 3 for the Services category in the Teesside region of the North East Business Awards. I continue to improve my clinical skills and practice evidence based physiotherapy by attending lectures, courses and through my own reading and have developed further my interest in persistent pain. I am passionate about physiotherapy and how it can help people achieve their potential, rediscover their confidence and improve their outlook on life. It is a profession that can benefit every individual in a variety of ways as well as the economy and society as a whole. I am very proud to be a part of it.
