About Kate Umbarger

I am a Staff Assistant at the United States Senate, where I support the daily operations and scheduling of a senior senator's team. I graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Public Administration, in Dec 2021. I also completed a summer program at George Mason University, where I learned about the legislative process and policy analysis. My core competencies include communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, which I apply in my current role and previous experiences. Before joining the US Senate, I worked as a Scheduling Coordinator at the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), where I managed the personal schedule and travel materials of the Chairman. I collaborated with the Senator's scheduling staff and other co-workers to ensure he was punctual and prepared for his meetings and events. I also interned at the US Senate, where I conversed with Tennessee constituents, drafted staff memos, and organized internal data. I am motivated by the opportunity to serve the public and contribute to the political process. I can bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the team, as I am learning German and have a keen interest in international affairs.
