About Kate Walker

I’m a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist with over 16 years’ experience across hospital, community, and private settings, specialising in voice, upper airway, and swallowing disorders. I have a particular clinical interest in laryngology and the complex interplay between the aerodigestive tract and vocal function. As the founder of Affirm and Thrive, I provide gender-affirming voice and communication therapy. My work centres trans and gender-diverse folk, supporting them to explore their voice in ways that feel safe, authentic, and aligned with their identity. As a dual-qualified Naturopath, I integrate holistic health into my speech pathology practice - particularly in the management of laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR). I offer a root-cause approach that combines vocal rehabilitation with gut and nervous system support. In my role as a university lecturer, I teach and support students in the area of voice, bringing together clinical depth, inclusive frameworks, and a strong emphasis on advocacy-driven care.
