SUMMARY KEY STRENGTHS • I am a descendant of the Aboriginal people of the Wiradjuri nation, originally from NSW. I have sought after opportunities to contribute to the improvement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) people’s health status where ever possible in my professional career. • Registered Nurse with AHPRA Expires 31/05/2016 • I have broad project management experience from structured management frameworks in the public health system, promoting and integrating the Medicare financial models in Aboriginal Medical Services to managing clinical staff, peer educators and volunteer groups in community • I am registered with the Aboriginal Expert by Experience program, Country Health SA and recently attended the community induction and information day • I am a rural representative on the Flinders Closing the Gap Program National Advisory Group • I am an Aboriginal representative on the Upper Eyre Local Health Cluster Inc, advising the Rural Primary Health Networks • I have been the key developer in the adaptation of mainstream health education programs to make them more suitable, relevant and culturally appropriate for Aboriginal people in particular the ‘Living Improvements for Everyone’ (LIFE) program adapted from the Stanford Chronic Disease Self-management Program (CDSMP) and key preventative health programs • I have planned and facilitated research and evaluation of health education programs • I have successfully and effectively engaged the community to participate in different projects in diverse roles from short participation, feedback and opinion to volunteering and peer education • I am affiliated as an executive member of the Health in Our Hands peer led group in Whyalla • I have educated and trained hundreds of health professionals/community members and presented to hundreds of delegates at local, state, national and international forums
