About Kate Wilhelm

Experience and content designer with diverse background. I focus on collaboration, high quality and strategy. I helped design COVID Alert, Canada's national exposure notifications app. When it launched, it was widely lauded by experts in privacy and technology for the clarity and transparency of its content, and Apple told us it was the highest-ranked app in the world that used the Google-Apple Exposure Notifications framework. The app also won a 2021 ClearMark Award for its clear language and design. I'm also well-versed in change management and building UX practices in organizations. In 2008, I initiated and led an organization-wide plain language campaign from pitch to business as usual. It required significant change management across the organization to put the user first, which led to big rises in customer satisfaction for years afterwards - all within the organization's business-as-usual costs! I built our team's skills, relationships across the organization, and when I left the organization in 2015, plain language and continuous, iterative improvement had become just the way we did things.
