About Kate Williams

I am the Founder and Recipe Creator of Kate's Ice Cream, a plant-based and gluten-free ice cream company in Portland, OR, and Kate's Waffle Cones, gluten-free vegan waffle cone mix company distributing to ice cream shops nationwide. Inspired by my sister who couldn't have dairy, I launched my first ice cream company, Scoop Sights, at the age of 24 in Boston, MA, where I made dairy-free ice cream popsicles and sold them out of a tricycle at local farmers markets and events. A few years later, I moved to Portland, OR, and launched my second ice cream company, Kate's Ice Cream, in May 2019. I founded Kate’s with one goal in mind: to create access to inclusive ice cream shops for all, especially those who have felt excluded. At Kate's, our mission is to create joy through plant-based gluten-free ice cream by providing everyone a classic ice cream shop experience, regardless of dietary restriction. Kate's Waffle Cones was founded in 2019 after hearing feedback on my own cones. I will never forget the day a young 7 year old boy came to our ice cream shop saying he had never tasted a waffle cone in his life. Our waffle cones aim to make gluten-free/vegan more accessible to all. Kate's Waffle Cones allows ice cream shops to serve an ever- growing and lasting trend for the consumer, while giving that fresh baked waffle cone taste and smell. Our mixes are shelf stable and have a home in every ice cream shop.
