About Kate Wise

I possess an extensive 15-year tenure in the Health Information Management (HIM) department, progressing from fundamental technician responsibilities to assuming the role of Coordinator of HIM. My journey commenced as a Hospital Coder in July 2017. At present, I hold the esteemed position of Educator/Auditor of Hospital Coding at WVU Medicine as of December 2021. Within this role, I am tasked with providing comprehensive training to both new and existing staff in the outpatient setting. Additionally, I am responsible for conducting accuracy, external, and internal audits as per the department's requirements. It is my duty to ensure that all staff members are well-informed about the latest coding procedures and guidelines. Furthermore, I meticulously review patient charts to ascertain the accuracy of charges in alignment with the documentation present in their medical records following all current ICD-10 and CPT guidelines.
