About Katelyn Brady

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with a specialized focus on reproductive psychiatry and women’s mental health. I currently provide outpatient psychiatric services, including diagnostic evaluation and medication management, to individuals with a range of psychiatric illnesses from diverse populations. I specialize in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) and am certified in perinatal psychiatry. In my clinical practice, I have had the privilege of supporting women through some of life’s most challenging experiences, including counseling on abortion, infertility, pregnancy loss, and traumatic birth experiences. I approach these sensitive topics with compassion and care, offering a safe space for individuals to process grief, loss, and trauma. My goal is to help women regain a sense of strength and resilience as they work through these deeply personal experiences. My approach is rooted in trauma-informed care, understanding the profound impact that past trauma can have on mental and emotional well-being. I prioritize building trust and ensuring that patients feel heard, respected, and supported as they navigate their personal healing process. I also place great value on cultural humility and sensitivity, recognizing the importance of respecting and understanding each patient’s unique background, beliefs, and experiences. I am dedicated to providing culturally sensitive, non-judgmental care that honors the individuality of each person, ensuring they feel comfortable and empowered in their mental health journey. I bring extensive experience as an outpatient mental health provider, including the care of individuals with severe mental illness and substance use disorders. My prior experience also includes providing expert psychiatric evaluation and treatment at the UC San Diego Healthcare System in La Jolla, including Jacobs Medical Center, Thornton Pavilion, and the Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center. I completed a post-graduate PMHNP fellowship at the San Francisco VA Healthcare System, and have extensive experience providing care to veterans with comorbid addiction and mental illness. I have also provided integrative care to unhoused and marginalized populations with chronic mental and physical illnesses at Anthony's Foundation Medical Center Education in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco. I also have prior experience teaching as assistant clinical faculty at the University of California, San Francisco, where I taught NP masters students in the School of Nursing.
