About Katelyn Oconnor

I am a legal operations assistant working in the administrative support branch of Perkins Thompson, a midsize civil firm located in Portland, Maine. I have been living and working in Southern Maine since June 2024. Prior to my move, I worked at the Albright Memorial Library in Scranton, Pennsylvania for 1.5 years. I graduated from the University of Scranton with a BA in English literature and philosophy and a minor in Psychology. While in college, I was part of the Special Jesuit Liberal Arts Honors Program, an alternative general education track with a focus on philosophy and ethics, personal improvement, and critical analysis skills. My writing was published in five editions of Esprit, the University's review of arts and letters. I was awarded the Berrier Poetry Award for “Penrose Wake”, a poem published in the Spring 2020 issue of Esprit. I also served on the Board of Editors during the Spring 2022 semester. My short story “The Wood Pile”, published in July 2023 with The Fabulist Magazine, received an Honorary Mention in the first annual Fabulist Magazine Readers' Choice Awards. I presented a paper on Charles Dickens'"Night Walks" at a conference at Carroll University in April 2021. Another paper on the German abbess Hrosvitha's closet drama "Dulcitius" was accepted by the Sigma Tau Delta 2022 International Convention, and I presented it in Atlanta, GA. I presented a third paper, a multi-textual analysis on the supposed connection between illness and morality, at the Sigma Tau Delta 2023 International Convention in Denver, CO. I'm always happy to make connections in the Southern Maine area and beyond!
