About Katelyn Shellabarger

I have a passion for children, the families who love them, and meeting their developmental, emotional, and social needs in the medical setting. This passion has lead me to my current position as a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) in Preoperative Services at Dayton Children's Hospital. Previously I completed my Child Life internship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. There I completed two rotations in both acute and chronic care, as well as time in many other units of the hospital. My second rotation gave me the opportunity to work in the CHOP Proton Therapy Center with a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team where I was able to provide compassionate care for children and families through the innovative treatment. I have had numerous experiences that have helped me grow as a professional, including inservices, webinars, and daily contact with patients, families, and staff. These experiences have equipped me to be an asset to my patients and to the Child Life team. I have exceptional knowledge of child development, an intuitiveness to meet patient and family needs, and a strong sense of ethics that enable me to provide quality and appropriate care.
