Background

About Katelyn Yoder

My background is a blend of fieldwork and research in the fields of forensic psychology, criminology, and death investigation. Currently, I serve as the Director of Forensic Services at Forum, Ohio LLC, where I am working to build data-driven services and products in the field of forensic psychology for the central Ohio (and expanding!) community. Prior to returning to the world of forensic psychology, I was the Chief of Investigations (Operations) at the Franklin County Forensic Science Center (Office of the Coroner), where I worked with a department of 11 full time death investigators and two (2) investigative specialists. Our department worked together to conduct scene investigations for violent and unnatural deaths across the county. In addition to investigative work, I served as a liaison between the Investigation's department and Leadership, and provided instruction and training. This work builds off my research experience with the Ohio Department of Health, where I was responsible for abstracting and analyzing data on violent death cases from across the state of Ohio. My previous fieldwork experience includes a semester long placement with the Stalking Unit of the Columbus City Attorney's Office, where I assisted in the investigation and development of criminal cases. Additional research experience includes psychological studies at the undergraduate level and criminological studies at the graduate level, with my final investigation examining differences in the post-offence behaviors of single and serial homicide offenders. This project was completed as part of a joint research program between John Jay College of Criminal Justice and the Behavioral Science Unit of the FBI. My areas of expertise are death investigation, investigative psychology, and stalking.
