About Katherine Devlin

When I left school I had serious ambitions of going on to be a physiotherapist, but after my grandpa (and best friend) passed away I decided to take a gap year and very quickly got a job with Topshop working as a Sales Assistant. From the moment I was asked to manage their internal social media communications platform, my love for marketing grew & overtook any previous job ambitions. I undertook a BSc in Business with Marketing at Ulster University & worked full time across three different companies the whole way through the course. The first 7 years of working as a marketing professional was spent within the engineering, manufacturing and plant hire industries. In 2022, I went back to my roots - the retail industry, to a job that I thought would be my career for the rest of my life. I thought I was building the house, on the foundations I had already laid. But it turns out life had other plans for me. So this is your reminder that you can be passionate about an industry or profession without it having to define you. Your actions, beliefs, how you behave and treat people… that is what defines you. So this year I am focused on building myself up, and hopefully building a community at the same time. It just so happens that l will be working at Gibson & Associates while doing it!
