About Katherine Lander

I am a passionate patient care and social justice advocate. My 15-year career spans service in Radiology- 1st as a sonographer, where I delivered front-line care to thousands of patients from neonates to geriatrics, documenting anatomy and pathology in every organ system except bone. I continued to work with a variety of medical providers and health systems, including marketing for an independent imaging company and medical sales. Currently, I've served 5 years in my role as Radiology Patient Navigator, where I communicate with providers and patients regarding unexpected imaging findings and recommendations for follow-up on imaging done across the Duke Health system. Witnessing the way our healthcare system fails lower socioeconomic classes, non-English speakers, and other vulnerable populations inspired me to pursue a Master of Public Health, with a focus in Community Health and certificate in Healthcare Administration which I completed May 2024.
