About Katherine Long

Enterprising professional with a knack for analyzing complex problems, synthesizing information, and developing solutions. I see the big picture while never losing sight of the details. Wide-ranging experience navigating the landscape of Congress and federal agencies and programs, state government, and the nonprofit sector. Proven skills in relationship building, strategic communications, customer service, program management, technology, advocacy, and research. With this breadth of experience as a springboard, and the support of a strong professional network on the Hill and in Vermont, I set off on a professional adventure with the executive branch, serving for nearly two years as a Program and Budget Analyst with the State Department Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration. I was privileged to learn from brilliant, committed, and talented humanitarians and gained new appreciation for the complexity of program implementation in our current political environment. As I take a few months to reflect and refocus on next steps, I am eager to explore the interplay of humans and government - what can we learn about government when we listen to those who rely on it, even when what they say is hard to hear?I am so grateful for the support of colleagues and fellow travelers on this journey. Reach out if you want to grab a coffee - I've got a lot of time!
