About Katherine Sutton

I am a freelance Spanish to English / English to Spanish translator and editor. I am passionate about communicating ideas precisely through translation. I also teach ESL and academic writing/research at the Tecnológico de Monterrey University (rated number one private university in Mexico and within the top 250 universities worldwide). I am effective at building productive and gratifying collaborative relationships with my colleagues and students, sharing my knowledge and in turn learning from them. I acquire new skills and knowledge quickly and enthusiastically. I enjoy translation, editing, teaching, and research. Achievements- I have translated two short stories by the Mexican author Luis Felipe Lomelí (2017 Gilberto Owen Mexican National Literary Award winner):"The Clouds" and "Arandas", the latter being published in the U.S. translation journal Two Lines in September 2019. - I have translated a variety of published texts ranging from scholarly journal and newspaper articles (Forbes México and El Universal, for example) to Mexican export company pitch presentations and catalogues- I edited the official Tec de Monterrey APA Style ebook (the latest 2017 Spanish edition), which is used by all 31 campuses nationwide and abroad- I have obtained numerous certifications in teaching strategies such as cooperative learning and competencies teaching and top evaluation recognitions from students and administration where I currently teach- I participated as a literature professor in the international program at Centre International Valbonne in Valbonne, France, representing the Tec de Monterrey University.
