About Katherine Tolve
K.Tolve obtained her BFA in painting from Hartford Art School in 2008; upon graduation she was presented the Rudolph Zallinger Painting Prize. In 2005 she studied abroad in Cortona, Italy and backpacked through Europe, an experience that had a great influence on her future work. Katherine is a multi faceted artistic entrepreneur. A self-described experimental painter, she has produced work ranging from large canvases to furniture redesigned with her own fabrics. Her recent paintings are a culmination of her interests in textiles, pattern design, painting, and the recycling of various materials. Katherine’s most recent accomplishment’s include attending a residency at the Vermont Studio Center and winning Best Of Show at Hartford Open Studio’s group show, 2010, themed Coming Of Age, for her mixed media painting entitled Wisdom Passed.
