About Katherine Whybrew

At the core of my degree was the study of Medical Ethics. While studying, I gained a real interest in trying to balance competing patient needs against limited financial resources. My interest has grown and now lies with gaining an insight into and improving strategy that provides the best service possible to patients; focusing on using resources most efficiently and effectively in order to maintain patient flow. I am fascinated by operational management and how good, strong managerial skills so often make such a difference between positive patient experiences and negative experiences where the quality of patient, as well as staff care suffers. I am also very interested in upholding strong clinical governance to allow processes to work well in supporting a positive patient journey. I have begun to gain exposure into health and safety within the Trust which I find very rewarding, as we try to mitigate any risks to patient safety, as well as staff. As an ex-patient of Addenbrooke's and Great Ormond Street Hospital, I am passionately committed to maintaining and improving the quality of the service provided by hospitals, which inevitably means having to make difficult ethical and financial decisions. I am a very hardworking, bright and organised person who enjoys working with others as well as on my own. I am energetic and ambitious and I take a very responsible approach to any task that I undertake.
