About Kathi Matthews

Over thirty years experience in the Mortgage industry- beginning as Loan Processor in 1987 and accumulating experience in both Mortgage Wholesale and Retail environments including processing, closing, underwriting and managing. Most recently I was a level Underwriter with depth of experience underwriting VA,FHA and Conventional loans. I have experience underwriting FHA, VA, USDA, and Conventional as well as State Housing. I enjoy supporting highly productive Sales Reps and Loan Officers while establishing an open dialogue on how to make loans work. Through my experience I have learned how to prioritize, communicate, and teach others for increased efficiency and a more pleasant experience for all parties. I appreciate the positions where my input on priorities and practices are valued. I also thoroughly like people. My natural demeanor and years of experience have aided me in being able to positively communicate with various personalities, stay focused and hard working, and manage the stress of the industry. I have led training classes, mentored new underwriters and processors and managed staff small and large with equal success. I have been acknowledged by employers for strong customer service skills both internally and externally and have a strong team mentality. Years of experience and education in a variety of rolls within the Mortgage industry combined with high motivation to do a job well and timely while having a strong work ethic have given me the tools to continue my career in underwriting, take on more of a sales role, or move towards management and/or training. Specialties: Underwriting FHA & VA as well as self-employed borrowers, multi-tasking, maintaining client satisfaction internally and externally, detail orientation, and seeing a file through from start to finish.
