About Kathleen Greeson

Kathleen graduated with a degree in journalism from UGA in graduating, she moved to Chattanooga and worked as a staff photojournalist for the Times Free Press for seven years,winning numerous state and regional awards,as well as being nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in 2002. For the last 18 years, she has freelanced, shooting assignments locally, nationally and internationally for a variety of clients and has been published around the world in a variety of places. She continues to receive international recognition and awards for her work, including the Atlanta Photojournalism Seminar, Photo District News, LensCulture,National Wildlife Federation,ReFocus Awards,Julia Margaret Cameron Award,ND Awards,Nature Conservancy, and National Geographic.She has been honored to have more than 50 photographs chosen for permanent display in four local hospitals as well as other private collections around the country. She has been a featured presenter at eight Photo Night events, including Lee University, AVA in Chattanooga and University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She is also a regular guest speaker for college-level photojournalism classes and recently hosted a solo gallery show of her work from Guatemala.In 2020 Kathleen was named by NoogaToday as one of "25 women making history in Chattanooga" and was named in Marquis Who's Who in America 2020. She continues to work on various documentary projects about mental health, the Covid-19 pandemic and gentrification. Since March 2024, she has been working on an investigative project about rural health with the Chattanooga Times Free Press and PBS Frontline.
