About Kathrin Theelen

I strongly believe in the power of engagement, as well as making it easy for people to be good, do the right thing and contribute to society. Driven by making new, kind and sustainable ideas happen and sustain a livable planet for future generations. I also believe that we need to find new ways or look back on historic examples that can guide us on finding our place in the time of climate crisis, pandemics, war and all other emergencies. I'm a creative and passionate entrepreneur with a background in engineering, leadership, starting-up companies, fundraising, marketing, sustainability policy development and a future in sustainability and climate engagement. In the fall of 2019 I co-founded Evolar AB, a deeptech company developing next generation perovskite thin film solar cells with higher efficiency and reduced carbon footprint. Evolar AB has been acquired 2023 by First Solar. Prior to joing the solar industry I have worked in the pharmaceutical / medtech industry. I have a strong leadership foundation and the ability to build teams and organisations. I am experienced in building companies, project management, fundraising, sales and marketing, sustainability policy development and corporate social responsibility. My policy work has focused on advocacy for a forced-labor free supply chain for PV modules. I have a Master of Science in Engineering from RWTH Aachen University, have a coach certification from Coach Companion and completed several courses on Business economics at Uppsala University. Today I divide my time between my family, First Solar and climate engagement. I'm always looking for ways of combining my skills with ideas for how to make our society sustainable.
