Background
About Kathryn B. Keller
Dr. Keller's current research interests are related to interprofessional communication & teamwork and developing caring-based interprofessional relationships. Her doctoral research was the "Development of an Instrument to Assess Critical Care Nurses' Arrhythmia Knowledge" and exploring electrocardiographic nursing concepts remains an important area of interest. One of Dr. Keller's favorite pastimes includes conducting workshops on 12-lead EKG interpretation and advanced arrhythmia concepts. Beginning in 1990, Dr. Keller published in the Cardiology Casebook section of the American Journal of Critical Care and Heart & Lung with her lifelong mentor, Dr. Louis Lemberg. She was certified in critical care nursing (CCRN) for over 20 years and remains current in ACLS and teaching ECG nursing concepts. Presently, Dr. Keller teaches in both the undergraduate and graduate program. She is Graduate Coordinator for the Nurse Educator concentration in the master's program and is credentialed as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE). Additionally she is an advisor in the PhD program. She enjoys teaching at all three levels and across programs. Dr. Keller's interest in simulation led to her work in formulating adult health simulation experiences grounded in a caring framework within the College. During her work in simulation, an interest in interprofessional education (IPE) emerged. At this time she is actively involved in developing and implementing IPE opportunities to align education with practice. She is also an advanced TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer. Her most recent areas of research revolve around caring, simulation, and interprofessional education & practice. Most recently, Dr. Keller and colleagues were awarded a president's grant from the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation for Aligning Education and Practice to Support Interprofessional Collaboration.
