About Kathryn Bode

Teaching is a balancing act; you are balancing each individual child’s background experiences with your everyday curriculum. Children enter school from diverse backgrounds but share a sense of curiosity. The importance of educating young students is so that I am able to capture that curiosity in a student and allow them to explore the classroom curriculum with interest. Throughout all my experiences as an undergraduate and during student teaching, I have developed a sense of self-reflection that helps me to grow and establish a well-balanced teaching style. Having completed my student teaching year, it is obvious to me that I teach so I can constantly learn from the experiences my students bring to school, and adapt in order to maximize students learning and growth. As a teacher, my goals for the students go beyond just teaching the curriculum. Providing skills to become independent learners, utilizing personal experiences to foster learning, and establishing positive behaviors and interaction skills to use in their community are what I hope to give my students.
