About Kathryn Robinson

I like problems. I always have. As a kid I liked nothing better than losing myself in a puzzle, and so it’s no surprise that I’ve forged a career in strategic thinking in the fields of communications and behaviour change. I believe that problems are very powerful. Understand exactly what’s holding a person, an organisation or even a community back and you’re half way to the solution. But most problems are spectacularly poorly understood and superficially solved. This is where I believe that a rigorous, behaviorally informed approach combined with a wallop of creative imagination can really get you places – changed behaviour, better outcomes and greater effectiveness. In my career I have applied myself to problems as diverse as- how do we stop teen heartbreak turn to harm- how do we discourage accidental house fires- how to encourage violent men to change- how do we get people to recycle better- how do you get people to break up with their banking provider- how do you grow the market for mobile phones. and many more. My work in the areas of youth relationships and fire safety has been nationally and internationally recongised for its impact and effectiveness. I'm currently based in Wellington New Zealand and always on the look out to work with interesting people and problems. My most recent work covers issues associated with domestic violence, youth relationships, workplace safety, environmental challenges and migrant exploitation.
