Background

About Kathryn Skipper

I am a high school English teacher who has been with the Calgary Catholic School District for the past 25+ years, with 23 years in my current position. I am the lead teacher in the ELA International Baccalaureate Program and am responsible for the creation and delivery of curriculum taught in that program. In the IB ELA and the mainstream ELA courses I have had great success in preparing my students to attain the high marks necessary for the IB Exemption in first-year university English, for entrance into the program of their choice in university, and for success on the ELA 30-1 Diploma Exam. I truly love what I do, and because of that I am able to foster in my students their own love of literature, and the skills necessary for them to excel in the critical analysis of texts and in the creation of insightful analytical writing at the university level and beyond.I will be retiring at the end of this school year, but I plan to stay active as a substitute teacher and also see what other opportunities might come along.
