About Kathy Forrest

Kathy Forrest, MSN, MA, RN Kathy Forrest is a retired Instructor and Coordinator of Professional Programs in the College of Nursing (CON) at Michigan State University. She is currently teaching part-time in the fall and spring semesters in NUR 423, Transitional Needs of Adults with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities. This course is open to MSU students of any academic major who are interested in caring for adults with disabilities. Kathy has over forty years of experience in nursing in a variety of positions in acute care, ambulatory care and nursing education. Most recently she was actively engaged as a nursing faculty providing professional development education; developing and revising curriculum and teaching in the classroom, in simulation and online courses. Ms Forrest earned an Associate Degree in Nursing from Lansing Community College, a Baccalaureate Degree from University of Michigan, a Master of Arts in Management from Spring Arbor University and a Master of Science in Nursing from Michigan State University. Her areas of interest include chronic disease self- management strategies, the use of simulation as a tool to advance nursing education and student learning, and interprofessional learning opportunities for faculty and students.
