About Kathy Moore

Thornburg Middle School Our motto at TMS is that all children can learn. I take our motto very seriously. We are preparing our students to be productive citizens in the 21st century. My job is to ensure that students are proficient using the keyboard, learning all of the Google applications, and teaching them how to be good digital citizens and safe online. I am part of the TMS Leadership Team, and I am a sponsor of both the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and the Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) club. I am also the webmaster and contribute to our yearbook. I was Mentor Teacher of the Year, and a candidate for Teacher of the Year. I have also taken part in our Districts' Teachers as Leaders and Teachers as Coaches programs. Before entering the education field, I was in the accounting field for 23 years. My years of experience combined with the Career Switcher program allowed me to achieve my lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. During my first year of teaching I was diagnosed with breast cancer. My school and students were very supportive and I am happy to say I am now cancer free. I have been married for 28 years to my husband Barry who works in the mortgage industry, and we have two beautiful children, Calvin 23, and Madison 16. We love our 2 dogs - Riley and Sasha, 3 cats - Zara, Ezie, and Misty, and our pot-bellied pig, Wilbur.
