About Kathy Phung

There's nothing like setting a goal, and then achieving it. From experiencing la vie française by moving to Paris for a year, to graduating culinary school, I've been strong willed in my search for unique opportunities that have enriched me professionally and personally. My varied skill set includes over 7 years of administrative support (part-time status), financial aid and academic student advising, database building for websites, and writing training manuals, travel newsletters, and personal blogs. I've spoken to and made presentations (verbal and Powerpoint) to over 200 students, as well as made and help plate up desserts for banquets of over 200 guests. I have prepped necessary culinary tools and ingredients for intimate pastry classes, and assisted in chef demonstrations. I have worked under multiple Certified Executive Pastry Chefs and am a Certified Working Pastry Chef myself. Many lessons of the kitchen can be applied to the office world, from suitability efforts with regards to food waste by keeping a close watch on inventory supplies, and creative reuse of food (all according to proper food safety standards), to organizational mise en place, and setting yourself up for success. The best lesson from the pastry kitchen is that no matter how difficult or stressful life may be, there's always a little room for some chocolate.
