About Kathy Sullivan

Dr. Sullivan earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 1980, and was licensed in California in 1982. During her training she worked at the California Diagnostic School for Neurologically Handicapped Children, Valley Children's Hospital in Fresno, and Kingsview Hospital, a long term psychodynamic hospital in Reedley, California. She was employed at Kingsview from 1981-1989 specializing in the inpatient assessment/treatment of severely disturbed children and adolescents. In 1986 she was named the Unit Chief of a newly opened inpatient Children's Psychiatric Unit at Kingsview - the first of it's kind in the Central Valley. She also had a private practice in Fresno specializing in the assessment/treatment of complex children and adolescents. Dr. Sullivan was on the adjunct faculty at the California School of Professional Psychology-Fresno from 1982-1989. In 1989 she founded and opened the Sullivan Center for Children, a comprehensive outpatient treatment center for children, adolescents and their families. The Center now employs a staff of 18 clinicians. The Center is and has been a training site for many clinicians, and has APPIC membership for both Pre-Doctoral Internship and Post Doctoral Fellowship Programs. The Center also has a Board Certified Child Psychiatrist on staff, and is an APA approved Continuing Education Provider. Dr. Sullivan has been active in professional organizations and was the President of the San Joaquin Valley Psychological Association first in 1984 and again in 2009. She has been an active member of the California Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association, and has been a member of the National Register since 1982. In 2008 she was awarded a Diplomate in Child and Adolescent Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology. Dr. Sullivan specializes in the treatment of children and adolecents, and psycho-diagnostic, neuropsychological and forensic assessments of children and adolescents.
