About Katie Bagdon

In addition to completing a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education, a Masters in Functional Analysis of Behavior at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, I am completing my Master's in Education of Educational Leadership with Principal Certification and will be finished May 2022. I have taught in many classrooms with students who are typically developing and have who have disabilities. In that time I have managed paraprofessionals, served as a collaborative team member to new and experienced teachers and specialists, and lead meetings in regard to how to support students and access resources through my experiences. I have taught students preschool through sixth grade, skills to increase and broaden their knowledge in social, emotional, adaptive and academic areas such as reading, writing, and mathematics. As a teacher, I have formed cooperative learning groups, created learning centers, modified and adapted curriculum and lesson plans that engaged all learners, and implemented learning style research in every lesson. As an Educational Specialist, I have adhered to and implemented legal polices and procedures in regards to the Individualized Education Program, Behavior Intervention Plan, Evaluation, and Emergency Response Protocol. I have contributed to and been team member in student-centered problem solving for academics, social emotional health, and school related purposes. Multiple times a week, I created agendas and facilitated teams of up to 20 people. I have also created Functional Behavior Assessments for students with social and emotional disabilities identifying their antecedents to create a program that will best suit their needs. My experience has allowed me to increase my knowledge of children and how to identify their needs more efficiently. It has allowed me to work with specific curriculums, develop IEP’s, assess students on required tests, and coordinate student assignments and progress with classroom teachers and specialists. I have served as a Crisis team member, utilize CLEAR and PBIS strategies to deescalate students, coach colleagues on adaptations and strategies for individual students, administered and interpreted academic testing such as the Woodcock Johnson and WIAT, and trained staff on legal and procedural matters.
