About Katie Bower

Grew up in rural Union Springs, NY where my family owns and operates a large towing and auto repair business (Oakwood Service Center). I grew up in a family that is community minded and always working hard to not only grow the family business but help the community grow. As I grew older I began to become active in 4-H, particularly in the equine and dairy cow areas. As my interest in Dairy cows grew, I applied to Cornell University to Major in Animal Science with a focus in dairy. My freshman year of college I decided to become certified as an interior firefighter and quickly fell in love with the adrenaline rush and the challenge that came with firefighting. I continued my career at Cornell while continuing my education in Emergency Services by taking numerous state fire classes and volunteering with the local fire department. As I finish up my senior year at Cornell, I have accepted a job with Tompkins County Emergency Response as a Dispatcher and will be pursuing that career after college.
