About Katie Bowyer
I obtained my Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy from Appalachian State University and interned at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital. I obtained my Master of Music in Music Therapy in May 2023 from Colorado State University. As a music therapist, I am proficient in guitar, piano, ukulele, and basic percussion, but my primary instrument has always been voice. I am passionate about engaging with music in all aspects of life, including playing and singing in bands, being a dance-based fitness instructor, and finding other ways to play and dance to music any chance I get. I discovered that other musical endeavors outside of music therapy don't only have a quality of enjoyment, but they also tend to carry therapeutic value. There has never been a more motivating and engaging experience as music, and I plan to continue partaking in and facilitating these experiences for myself and others to experience growth, healing, motivation, change, connection, emotion, and depth.
