About Katie Davis

In various part-time jobs that I have attained, I have been able to grow and develop various skills and apply them to areas of my work. As a teacher assistant for a physics teacher in my academy, I first learned the beginning skills of teaching and the unique approaches that it has. During COVID I served as a team member at Chick-Fil-A. Working here allowed me to learn the importance of connections, friendliness, positive interactions, and customer service. I continued building these skills as a role as camp counselor at an all-outdoor summer camp. I was able to connect nature with city children by fostering deep understanding of their behavior and the important role that nature helps in their behavior. Over the course of working two years at a daycare while attending college, I have developed a comphrensive understanding of child development which solidified my passion for working with children in the future. Besides my work experience skills, I have found a profound apprectiation for cultural diversity and the importance that it plays with my work skills and knowledge. I have embarked on several mission trips to various Latin American countries, which has broadened my cultura awarenss and knowledge and has helped me understand children from diverse background. I have also had the opportunity to go on a study tour to Egpyt and Turkey in May of 2023. This tour opened my eyes to a completely different culture and world view that I did not know existed. Currently, I am deepening my cutlural understanding my studying spanish in Spain through a study abroad program. I hope that learning another language will allow me to foster an inclusive and supportive environment for children from all walks of life in the future.
