About Katie Fields

I am a passionate educator, teacher educator, and author dedicated to trauma-responsive practices and teacher advocacy. With a Ph.D. in Instructional Leadership and Academic Curriculum from the University of Oklahoma and a career spanning early childhood classrooms, university teaching, and leadership in early learning centers, I bring both deep experience and a commitment to social-emotional learning, equity, and teacher empowerment. As a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Central Oklahoma, I teach undergraduate and graduate courses in early childhood and elementary education, with a focus on trauma-informed pedagogy, classroom management, and teacher agency. My research and writing focus on foster children, teacher autonomy, trauma-responsive classrooms, and the role of educators as policy advocates. Whether I’m mentoring preservice teachers, leading a Capitol visit, or designing constructivist learning experiences, my mission is always the same: empower teachers to be responsive, reflective, and ready to lead.
